This exciting On-screen resource enables children to design and create their own newspaper front page. They are invited to write up three stories from a set of reporters’ notes and quotes, choosing which story to lead with for their particular paper. They will also be asked to think up headlines, choose a photo, add a caption and byline.
Before reading
- Look at the instructions and identify the task.
- Discuss the newspaper types, looking at their names and their potential readership before choosing your preferred type.
- Explore the style, language choices and photographs which might be used, according to the different type of newspaper.
- Decide how decisions will be made in each group – will there be an Editor or a voting system?
- Discuss ground rules for agreeing on decisions. What happens if others do not agree?

Racism is occurring everywhere. I currently experienced the film ‘The Sapphires’ and I encourage all to view this movie in order to turn away from racism in Australia society, especially towards our indigenous brothers and sisters. It explores the issue of Respect for life and vividly portrays racism in the 1960s and 1970s. This is depicted by the dramatizing the true story about four young aboriginal women who went to Vietnam to amuse troops and to come back to Australia and become successful community leaders who were positive role models for the respective race. This movie displays for people of Australia to reflect deeply within our community on racism. As a catholic youth worker I believe that the Catholic Church looks down upon to this due to the fact that it is a method of harming God’s people. All people are of God and therefore regardless of race they strongly deserve the same treatment of peace and goodwill that Christ taught his followers to practice.

Racism is one of the most talked about issue around the world. I am opposed to racism as it is simply the “discrimination or prejudice based on their race”. Racism should be stopped for its obvious reasons; we are all human and we all equal as one, the physiological and psychological effects to one individual for example, it hurts to imagine what hard condition they are in everyday because they are judged, harassed and discriminated.
The parable of the Good Samaritan is a parable told by Jesus and is mentioned in only one of the gospels of the new testaments. This teaches to respect for life against racism. A new commandment I give onto you ‘That you love one another; as I have loved you’ (quoted by the bible) is a very important and powerful command from the lords lips himself as it portrays that Jesus tells us to love each other and go and do likewise, which means love everyone as he did. ‘Blessed are the pacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God’ (2330 catechism) this describes that happy are the peacemakers for they are doing the work of God, which is to treat everyone equally.
The stolen generation known as the stolen children, were the Australian aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders descent who we isolated from their families by the Australian federal and state government agencies, because of their race. This was all under acts of their respective parliaments. This led to too many concerns and due to this, the apology was made from the prime minster from Australia, Kevin Rudd. On the 11th of December 2011 the Australian government apologised for what they had done in the past to express regret for the pain and suffering it had caused indigenous people.
Racism should be stopped mainly because each and every one of us have ‘human rights’, the crucial rights and freedom of every living individual. We all have the right to live, reproduce, speak, study and work, just to name a couple. I strongly believe that we are all created by God. We shall all attempt to live with each other in harmony and take in the differences that God has given each and every one of us. This is because the differences make us special and unique in our own way. -

In 1915, a ridiculous think happened in Germany in the Geologic Association Meeting when the German scientist,Alfred Wegener said that the only answer is continental drift.He said that earth's land masses collided to form one supercontinent called Pangaea. He believed that the land masses broke into pieces due to the weakness in the earth crust. Some scientists thought that this man was crazy but he gave his 4 proof which can somewhat justify his answer not fully. His four proof were following: 1- Jigsaw fit, 2-Fossils, 3-Mountains and 4-Ice sheets.
So when our reports ask what do you think about continental drift theory so some said that what is continental drift? "A slow movement of the continents on the deep seated viscous zone within the earth". So as you know that it happened about 300 million years ago. When the theory become somewhat popular so people or scientists said "if the Alfred Wegener gave answer to the question how the continent move we will believe him". Alfred Wegener spent all of his lifetime to answer his question but couldn't find it.
Second question which came to people mind during reporting is that what is Pangaea. So it is a supercontinent of all earth's land masses. It comes to his shape again around 200 million years ago. Our reporters did some search on Pangaea. So it is a ancient Greek word meaning "mother land". This name was also coined in the Alfred Wegener book which he published in 1915.(The Origin of continents and ocean).
When our reports tried to talk with him about the proofs which he get. He said "I have four proof which can help me to proof my theory". Firstly, he saw that Jigsaw fit between South America and Africa. Secondly, he found that fossils of the same plants and the animals on both continents. He felt that they could only exist in both places if the continents were once joined together. Thirdly, Wegener tried to prove that there were mountain similar in age and structure on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean-the Appalachians of United States and Canada and the Caledonia Mountain in British Isles and Europe. He thought that these mountains were formed about 300 million years ago when North America collided with Europe and South America. Fourthly, ice sheets covered parts of Southern Africa, India and Australia about 250 million years ago. How ice have developed into places which are too warm today? The only answer seemed to be that at one time the continents were located closer to the South Pole. After getting this four proof scientists didn't believe her and they ask how the continents moved. The theory remains mysterious because Alfred Wegener didn't found out this answer in his life time. -

As a restaurant reviewer, I see and eat at a lot of different places. But this was by far the best I have eaten at so far.
First I shall start with the overall appearance. As I arrived at the destination, it had much curb appeal, welcoming you into it's almost homely atmosphere. As you walk up the path towards the entrance, you can't help but feel a sense of family. There are also many plants at the entrance giving it a country feel. As I arrived at night, it was even more beautiful, as the wisteria was all lit up with fairy lights. it truly looked magical. As we entered the hallway, the cook welcomed you in. She took of your coat and hung it up, which was a nice touch. although, I don’t remember her asking whether or not I wanted my coat removed. the decor in the hallway was minimalistic, but effective. There was a bright picture on the wall, which broke up the cream. I was then escorted to another area where there were comfy sofas and a television to watch. I was left with the remote and the ability to surf the channels as I pleased. this room too was minimalistic but with lovely furnishings and personal touches. There were also lots of vases of flowers around, and a lovely view of the garden, which did wonders for the atmosphere.
As no waiter appeared, I soon realised the menu was not of choice, but in fact already pre chosen by the chef. as I had no warning of this I was rather disappointed, but it was exactly what I would have chosen anyway. The chef stayed in the kitchen for most of the wait for the food, occasionally coming out to check on her guest. I also realised that only the chef was working, no waiters. but I suppose you don’t need waiters if you don’t take orders.
The service was excellent, considering this ravishing meal was made and served within half an hour, without waiters and with only one chef. But there was two problems, one was that because of the absence of waiters, I did have to get up and fetch my own meal from the kitchen. Once I had gotten my meal, I was shown to a table next t the window, which I must say, had an astonishing view of the lovely garden. The other problem was that the chef made herself some too. She then came and sat down at the table with me and made small talk, asking how my day had been. A cliché question, I know. But despite that it was the most efficient I have ever seen a restaurant work and the chef coming and sitting down with you actually worked quite well with the homely theme.
The food was an ambrosial dish of a fresh butchers sausage and a succulent mini pork chop. Although it was mini, there was nothing small about the flavours. Bursts of rosmary and sage hit your tonge as you took a bite. This exquistte meal was accompnied by crunchy, fresh vegitables, bought that day and cooked superbly. They were simple in flavour, merely boiled and nothing more. but they fitted with the sausage and the chop perfectly, as they werent overpowering and gave your tastebuds a rest from the tantalizing meat.
The most exciting thing about this all though, is that it was free. yes, free! in fact the chef pays for your meal for you! have you ever heard of that before? imagine living this life constantly, not having to pay for our meals, it must be great!
Over =all this restaurant, although having its falults and quirks, was one of the best places i have eaten at, and i will be returning.

Residents are protesting about the expansion but the NSW government Mr. John Smith and his party have already made up there decision and there not thinking of changing there minds.
Resident Tony Hart has told his reasons on why expanding Goomanji National park is a bad idea 'I don't think expanding the park is going to help us as a community or as us ourselves' but Mr. Smith gave a speech that hasn't persuaded many people.

On Sunday, the 22nd of May, the greatest ever recorded earthquake hit Valdivia, Chile, with a 9.5 magnitude measure. It has been question why so many large tremors and earthquakes have hit this area, and scientists have confirmed that this is due to the tectonic plates of the earth. There are 7 large plates and several small plates under the surface of the earth, and when energy makes them move, this creates an earthquake. But why in this area? It is suggested that any areas on the edges or meeting points of tectonic plates (fault lines) are in danger of earthquakes. These areas are hit by large earthquakes very often, due to being on fault lines. To be more exact, Nearly 80% of all earthquakes happen in the Ring of Fire. This is an area the rests on the Pacific plate, and is very dangerous. Valdivia, Chile happen to be in this area. Up to 5700 people were killed in this accident, and millions of buildings and homes were destroyed. As if this weren't enough, this particular earthquake, along with many others, resulted in a tsunami, affecting east Chile, Hawaii, Japan, east New Zealand & south-east Australia. This just proves that natural disasters like these really earn their title.

Smelly-locks is a recreation of Goldilocks. The author, Peter Mountain did an excellent job. Peter thought the story of Goldilocks was strange because it was not explained to full detail. This is a great story for all ages. The story rhymes and has got a good plot. This story leaves you thinking. I would recommend this book to all ages.

Lynx Phoenix, daughter of the brave, Cepheus Phoenix and eldest of 4 was caught for almost stealing the most precious diamond we have here in Ladasavalia. She has been put in jail and almost had a sentence to death from the mayor when his lovely, handsome, son, Leo stopped them and saved Lynx's life. They agreed to put her in jail. But she was also name Undesirable No.8, from which her crime made her. Luckily yesterday, her kind younger brother, Caelum had bailed her out of jail, but she is still named entirely Undesirable No. 8. What will happen next for this extraordinary trouble-making creature? What crime would she make next?

Britain – In the midst of World War II, a plane evacuating a group of schoolboys from Britain was shot down, killing the pilot. Sadly, many having lost their sanity and consciousness even upon rescue, it was no more than what one would expect from a group of young boys having to fend for themselves.
These unfortunate schoolboys consisting of approximately twenty-five boys all under the young age of twelve, were found by a Navy Officer on an uninhabited island off the coast of the South Pacific Ocean.

on 26 May 2013Argentina's Guest, Anne Frank!
The Anne Frank museum in Buenos Aires, located in Belgrano, was officially opened on June 12th, 2009. In the exhibiton, recognized as Centro Ana Frank, several rooms are modelled after the famous hiding place in Amsterdam, known as the secret annex. The visitors get to see impressions of the kitchen, bathroom, living room, and annes room. There is nothing better than being able to place yourself in the past for a while. Also, the musesum includes a replica of the movable bookcase, that was used to enter the secret annex.
There is also another part of the museum, which is dedicated to the military dictatorship between 1976 and 1983 and the situation of human rights today. There is one room in the exhibition that is used to display videos about freedom of rights, even dilemmas in Argentina. The visitors are encouraged to give their opinions of the importance of civil rights and the problems that are presented to them.
In the museum, there are special activities you can do, for example teachers and educators learn how to connect the holocaust and the argentine dictatorship with issues that are present in our every day lives and classrooms. Also, apart from that, the Centre has signed an agreement that enables students from different military colleges to participate in an educational program in the anne frank center, here they can focus on the role of the army during the military dictatorship.
The big idea and purpose of this museum is to encourage visitors to make relations between different big and important historical events and how they relate to the problems we have no a days. Basen on the success of this exhibition, anne frank centre in argentina has developed a new museum to be shown on different places throughout the country. Students are enabled to reflect and maximize their ideas on the situation of diversity. -

and when he grew up he attacked him so he was locked in there again. Some say that he was insane and some say he was an ordinary; normal person. Miss Maudie Atkinson; one of our towns oldest residents was asked if Boo Radley was insane as a child and she replied saying: "If he's not, he should be by now." Boo Radley lives two doors down the finch's house on residential street. The look from outside the house is good enough to scare anyone who

Nightmares to people. Some say that he comes out at night and creeps through peoples windows. 3 kids from a high school sovle a mystery at a nearby bobsledding track. A friend Josh was accused of sabitoshing a competiters sled and he was not able to come back to the track. He could not go back to practice for the try outs to get on the Olimpic team. So the 3 kids did not belief that Josh did any thing to the sled. So they go on a hunt to find out what really happened. They go on many adventures. They find confusing notes. They listen to a bobsleder Ramsey which was the guy how accused Josh of sabitoting the sled. Ramsey hears them and runs after them. Ramsey catches them but they have a good accuse and Ramsey lets them go. One night the 3 kids go to the bobsledding track and they find Josh there talking to two guys. The 3 kids call the Coach of the bobsledding track and they also record it on their camera. The 2 guys are counterfieters and they want to but money in Josh's sled and carey it over seas to where the Olimpic contestant's would go. Then the counterfieters heard the 3 kids and they start to run after them. They call the police and the counterfeiters go to jail.

A shocking turn out for the largest passenger steamship that set out yesterday. The Titanic started its maiden voyage yesterday, April 14th, carrying 2223 passengers to New York, USA when the “unsinkable” steamship strike an iceberg off the Coast of New Found-land, Canada, just before midnight. The titanic sank in the surface of the Atlantic Ocean. In this tragic incident that happen 68 passengers was lost in the disaster, 832 innocent passengers who perished, 39% of those who perished from the 1st class, 685 crew member of who perished including Captain Edward John Smith and 333 was the total number of innocent victims bodies recovered from the horribly, terrible accident. The third class passengers were placed in the lower deck, their chances of escape was much lower when the ship sank and sadly the deaths in the third class were much higher than in first and second class. It was The Titanic took 62 seconds for it to take to the length of the slip way and into the waters; it is one of the most tragic moments in the world for the passengers loved ones and for the innocent victim’s them-selves. The passengers who managed to go onto the mini boats are safe and on shore and have been checked; it is a very tragic moment in history for world and for the people who perished or disappeared from this voyage, the “unsinkable” ship had sank on midnight, killing thousands of innocent lives, this will be remembered for the rest of history. May Peace be upon their souls.

An exciting event has begun to take place in the docks of Seattle, Washington. Recently Robert Henderson, George Carmack, Skookum Jim, and Tagish Charlie made an extraordinary discovery in Bonanza Creek. They had struck gold. 100,000 gold-seekers have already set off within the first 6 months to Yukon, it is expected only 30,000 people will complete this trip. “The Seattle Times” has been interviewing people arriving back from the exciting journey in search for gold. This person requested to remain anonymous but him and his family had decided to take a boat to Skagway, Alaska then took the Chilkoot Pass, while his friend took the White Pass, “We waved goodbye to our friends who started on their way to the White Pass, we had to leave our family horse behind because the trail became too steep for anyone’s packhorses, about halfway up the mountain we began throwing unneeded goods off the side of the mountain, we couldn’t get rid of our valuable supplies like our 3 pairs of heavy shoes, 3 dozen heavy wool socks, 2 corduroy suites, 150 pounds of flour, 150 pounds of bacon, and 100 pounds of beans. Like many others e gave up, mostly because of the blistering cold weather which could reach -60 degrees Fahrenheit. On our way back we met up with our friends who gave up on the White Pass, apparently the other path wasn’t much better, it was steep narrow and slick, and the native people to western Alaska called it “dead horse trail” because many pack animals died along that trail. Sled dogs were very valuable, many families passed us with these intelligent creatures, their feet are insulated and padded, this made it easier for the dogs to run, the smart sleds man covered the feet of the dogs with canvas for extra protection on the snow. I wouldn’t suggest traveling to the Klondike River Valley unless you know what you’re getting into.” We also realized that wealthier families took the Steam Ships to the western land. Some people have already started the mining process but many have died. It’s unfortunate that many residents of Dawson have begun to face starvation since an early freeze trapped supply boats downriver, hopefully those residents make it out okay. Book are in the making about the events taking place, one author that’s rough draft has stuck out was a man named Jack London, he plans to sell the rights to his book for a fair ransom. “The Seattle Times” is sure to keep you updated on these ongoing happenings.

Bob Sheldon was found dead in a local park. He was stabbed in the back. While investigators are still looking for the criminal, the local park has been shut down due to this investigation. Nobody else was hurt during crime although the other boys that were involved were very shaken up about their close friends death. The city counsil of Windrexville will be installing video cameras around the perimeter. They will also be escorting stand by guards to assure the safety of the park.

Sam Walton, born march 29, 1918 and died April 5, 1992. his family was always there with him and he always tried to do what was best for his family. Walton was famous for his business which was wal-mart. after college Walton got a job that paid him 75 dollars a month at jcpenny's. he then resigned and joined the military for service in World War II. he later then reached the rank of a captain. after leaving the military, Walton took over management of his first variety store at the age of 26. his father in law helped him with a $20,000 loan, Walton purchased a Ben Franklin variety store in Newport, Arkansas. after his second store he grew his business even more with ben franklin, Walton had 16 more stores. after his businesses with the bud brothers , the first wal-mart ever was opened on July 2, 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas. It was called the Wal-Mart Discount City store and located at 719 West Walnut Street. after this first store he tried his hardest to get american goods in his store, after he did him and his brother opened more stores all over the country. wal-mart is now a huge corperation and is in good business. Sam Walton his well known for the creation of wal-mart. and with out him wal-mar wouldnt be as big now. sam walton is an important buiness person in history.

Ichabod Crane has been in the town of Sleepy Hollow where the legend of the Horse Man was known. For about 2 weeks Ichabod Crane has been through a stressful and exhausting time trying to solve the mystery of the Horse Man. Though everyone knows the Horse Man is dead it was being controlled by something else. Ichabod found the person that had controlled it and had terrorized the town of Sleepy Hollow. Though what had happened may be solved and over no one knows if its actually done yet.

Today the council of Cumbria decided to build a wind farm off the shore of Allonby coast as this part of Britain uses up th highest amount of fossil fules. They chose to put it here because it dosn't spoil the view it dosn't cause corruption in the environment and most importantly it is very windy on the west coast so they will be generating the highest amount of energy they possibly can. One woman Maria Graves was delighted to hear that there was a wind farm was being built as her electric bills were shhoting up as her two boys spent a lot of time watching TV. But on the other hand Luke Patterson despises wind farms because he lives right on the coast, and when he wakes up to see the sea all he finds is an industrial wind farm.

Mission Australia is an organisation urgently trying to eliminate poverty from Australia and other nations. Advertisements that shock the community with true statistics that don't seem real, such as 20% of Australia do not have a secure home to live in. These statistics that reach out to the public usually enforce actions such as donations. We wake up in our big, modern homes and hop out of a double bed in our own room and walk to the huge kitchen to face the first challenge of the day, having to choose what to eat for breakfast, because there is such a wide variety of choices. After breakfast we dress in clean, smart uniform for our private school. We receive top class education, opportunities to excel in sport, academic pursuits and learning morals of a man. We are so accustomed to this easy lifestyle full of friends, relaxation and opportunities that we never take the time to stop and think about those people who don't have a beautiful home, who don't go to private schools and receive first class education, those who aren't expecting 3 meals a day and those who don't have pleasant families where parents get along well. This is what Mission Australia does, they appeal to the public and aim for them to understand the position that fellow Australians are in.

On Tuesday, a woman named Mary was in Cana to attend a wedding. A large number of guests, including her son, a man named Jesus, also attended the wedding.
Guests at the wedding were reportedly having a good time until the host ran out of wine. At that point, it seemed that the happy celebration might turn into a disaster.
Some of the wedding guests thought that perhaps Jesus might have a solution to the problem, so they reported to him that they were out of wine. When told about the problem, Jesus at first seemed unwilling to do anything, but after some encouragement from his mother, he finally agreed to help.
Eyewitnesses at the wedding reported that Jesus noticed several large water jars nearby and instructed some servants to fill them with water. After the jars had been filled with water, he told them to dip some of the water out of the jars and take it to the man who was in charge of serving the wine. When the wine steward tasted the water, he discovered that the water had been turned into wine.
Wedding guests were amazed at the turn of events and said that the wine was the best that they had ever tasted. One lady even said to Jesus, “WOW!!! This is the best wine I’ve ever tasted!”
As a result of this miraculous event, many people are following Jesus everywhere he goes, and many believe that he might even be the long-awaited Messiah. -

An earthquake is a shaking of the ground caused by the sudden breaking and movement of large sections (tectonic plates) of the earth's rocky outermost crust. The edges of the tectonic plates are marked by faults (or fractures). Most earthquakes occur along the fault lines when the plates slide past each other or collide against each other.
The shifting masses send out shock waves that may be powerful enough to
alter the surface of the Earth, thrusting up cliffs and opening great cracks in the ground and
cause great damage ... collapse of buildings and other man-made structures, broken power and gas lines (and the consequent fire), landslides, snow avalanches, tsunamis (giant sea waves) and volcanic eruptions.

Pony boy curitis went to veitnam and came back a hero. Pony was serving his country. He then relized that somthing was wrong.He hurried over to the sene and helped a handful of people out of the burning building.
Pony had a rough childhood. his parents had died when he was younger. so his two brothers had to raise him. Ponys brother Darry was always hard on on him.He wanted him to have a better life then he already had.
Pony was an a plus student but he belonged to a gang.He was a greacer .His past was dark and sad. Like most greacers Pony would fight and particeipate in rumbles.
But onr day pony realized that fighting doesnt get you any where just in trouble. So he dicided to go to. war .His brothers were ueasey about Ponys decision. but he was old enough to make his own choice.
Pony is proud of what he did for those people.He now is a Purple Heart recipient and a brave person .Pony is now 26 and has a house of his own and couldnt be happier. -

On the 21st of September 2011, us Aliens made contact with Humans- from earth! We landed in what they call Heathrow Airport, to find hundreds of Humans staring at us worriedly! About a day later, we set out on a course to find out as much as we could about the planet Earth.
FinBob Aleino (famous Alien scientist) set off, straight to a science laboratory- where he talked to Human scientists about the human body and plant structures. One scientist pointed out how humans and plants have billions of cells inside them, each one made up of tiny little particles- so small that you would need a super strong microscope to see them.
Each Human cell has a nucleus-which controls the activities of the cell (the biggest scrunched up bit of paper), chytoplasm-which is where all the activity of the cell happens (the yellow piece of paper) and a cell membrane-which controls what goes on in and outside of the cell (the blue bit of paper round the outside).
Each Plant cell has a chloroplast-which contains green chlorophyll, needed for photosynthesis, a cell wall-which provides rigid support for the cell and a vacuole-which stores food and helps keep the cell firm.
The Humans donated us a model of a human cell for us to examine.
'We can't wait to get back!' was the end of a telephone call that FinBob sent yesterday.
It is a fantastic new discovery and we hope to go back to earth for other trips soon. -

on 5 July 2011Kids Working in cotton mills..
The local cotton mills have been employing young children from as young as 6 to clean the machines, while the machines are still running. there has been alot of debating about whether this is a good thing or not. one parent told us: " i think this is brilliant!! it keeps the kids out of the way and i dont have to worry about feeding them, they get paid too. aswell as all this they also learn discipline.The only thing i find a problem is that my son came back with cuts on his back, he said he had been whipped for being late for work. according to this parent the cotton mills employing kids is a great thing, thats not the case for all the parents though: "this is terrible, my daughter has been whipped all over all because she turned up late and got the cotton tangled. i love having my girls around, they help me with my work. when they are at work i'm on my own and they have no choice but to go to work. Alot of parents have said that this is a very bad thing to do to young children who have a whole life ahead of them, but sadly they have to spend alot of their childhood cleaning dangerous, running cotton machines. The mill owner 'steve dykes' has said " i love the kids working for me, they are easy to train and discipline and don't fight back when i punish them. They have little nimble fingers that can fit into all the small holes to untangle cotton, though sadly some have lost fingers.
we have talked enough about the parents veiws, now we talk ot the kids: Gemma Green says: "i really don't enjoy working at the mill, i have cut myself so many times and nobody wants to help. I feel useless when i'm in the mill, nothing but a working machine. the machines really hurt you if you catch your finger in it, my poor friend even lost her finger!!" according to this girl the cotton mill child workers are bullied and nothing but a piece of dirt that nobody cares about.
we don't know what to do about this issue, further information will be in next weeks paper.

Respect For Life
Racism is occurring everywhere. I currently experienced the film ‘The Sapphires’ and I encourage all to view this movie in order to turn away from racism in Australia society, especially towards our indigenous brothers and sisters. It explores the issue of Respect for life and vividly portrays racism in the 1960s and 1970s. This is depicted by the dramatizing true story about four young aboriginal women who went to Vietnam to amuse troops and to come back to Australia and become successful community leaders who were positive role models for the respective race. This movie displays for people of Australia to reflect deeply within our community on racism. As a catholic youth worker I believe that the Catholic Church looks down upon to this due to the fact that it is a method of harming God’s people. All people are of God and therefore regardless of race they strongly deserve the same treatment of peace and goodwill that Christ taught his followers to practice.
During the film ‘the sapphires’ there is one in particular scene that displays racism, for example as the war was occurring and the four young singers were on the helicopter waiting for help, a man from the army was suffering gunshot injury’s and one of the sapphires decided to help him although he said “Get your black hands off me”. This shows discrimination towards black people and I believe this is wrong because we shouldn’t judge anyone by their race because we are all humans.
Racism is one of the most talked about issue around the world. I am opposed to racism as it is simply the “discrimination or prejudice based on their race”. Racism should be stopped for its obvious reasons; we are all human and we all equal as one, the physiological and psychological effects to one individual for example, it hurts to imagine what hard condition they are in everyday because they are judged, harassed and discriminated.
The parable of the Good Samaritan is a parable told by Jesus and is mentioned in only one of the gospels of the new testaments. This teaches to respect for life against racism. A new commandment I give onto you ‘That you love one another; as I have loved you’ (quoted by the bible) is a very important and powerful command from the lords lips himself as it portrays that Jesus tells us to love each other and go and do likewise, which means love everyone as he did. ‘Blessed are the pacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God’ (2330 catechism) this describes that happy are the peacemakers for they are doing the work of God, which is to treat everyone equally.
The stolen generation known as the stolen children, were the Australian aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders descent who we isolated from their families by the Australian federal and state government agencies, because of their race. This was all under acts of their respective parliaments. This led to too many concerns and due to this, the apology was made from the prime minster from Australia, Kevin Rudd. On the 11th of December 2011 the Australian government apologised for what they had done in the past to express regret for the pain and suffering it had caused indigenous people.
Racism should be stopped mainly because each and every one of us have ‘human rights’, the crucial rights and freedom of every living individual. We all have the right to live, reproduce, speak, study and work, just to name a couple. I strongly believe that we are all created by God. We shall all attempt to live with each other in harmony and take in the differences that God has given each and every one of us. This is because the differences make us special and unique in our own way.
It is important that you all shall see this fun, loving and beneficial film ‘The Sapphires’ as a way to turn away from racism and treat people equally.
