Encourage creativity this Christmas using felt, foam and pipe cleaners

Father Christmas decoration

In the final article of our three-part art series, we look at how open-ended art activities on the theme of Christmas can give children the opportunity to express their individual creative thinking.

In previous articles, we’ve looked at an autumnal theme using wood, wool and fabric with a Dingle, dangle scarecrow mini project (October issue) and a Bonfire Night theme using paper, card and sparkly decorations to create Firework pop-up cards (November issue). This month’s Christmas-themed article focuses on: felt, foam and pipe cleaners. The activities aim to show the children how simple shapes created from foam, felt and pipe cleaners can be used to represent different things when the colours or positions are altered.
