Invite children to explore autumn using wood, wool and fabric in this new creative series

Scarecrow craft

Materials needed

Wood, (specifically, a disposable wooden teaspoon and a lollipop stick or coffee stirrer); fabric (scraps from old clothing, sacking, tea towels, and so on) and wool (especially any that has been previously knitted into a jumper or used). Choosing three previously used materials fits in perfectly with themes of recycling and biodegradability, while the theme of autumn provides a wonderful opportunity to explore how the seasons change and the effects of passing time.
