Year 5 includes two sample lessons linked to the 100 Lessons Music Planning Guide. ‘Working with pentatonic scales’ links directly to Year 5, Autumn 1. Children are asked to compose a piece based on a pentatonic scale. In ‘Adding variations to melodies’, children are asked to compose melodic ostinatos using a pentatonic scale. This lesson links directly to work in Year 5, Summer 1.
