History
John Logie Baird was born near Glasgow, Scotland, in 1888. He was the youngest child of a Church of Scotland minister and went to a local school. Baird was a sickly child and when at home he loved to read the science fiction stories of HG Wells and to experiment with modern scientific ideas. After he left school, Baird studied electrical engineering at a Glasgow college that specialised in science and technology.
