Discover how one of Britain’s most powerful female leaders fought against Roman authority
The history
The Celts kept no written records, so much of our information about Boudicca comes from the later writings of Roman historians, Tacitus and Dio Cassius.
Boudicca means ‘Victory’, so this might not even have been her real name, just a nickname.
