The Aztec civilisation is one of several past societies featured in the world history study section of the National Curriculum. Although the Aztecs are not exemplified in the QCA Scheme of Work for history, the theme is rich in cultural difference and moral issues. It provides both teachers and children with a fascinating glimpse at a way of life radically different to their own, yet one that, by the actions of the conquistadors, is inextricably linked to the European world.
