Put your class into role as football managers to assess players’ performances and hone their own skills
Playing for Success
Playing for Success is an organisation dedicated to providing after-school support in developing children’s skills through an association with sport. There are many support centres based at football clubs. You may like to contact Playing for Success to see how they could help with your cross-curricular work. Visit www.playingforsuccessonline.org.uk for more information.
This month, we take a closer look at football clubs by finding out about the stars of the show – the players themselves. With these cross-curricular activities from Hot Topics (Scholastic, £20 PB) author, Peter Riley, you can examine team structure and player skills, assess on-field performance, study the statistics and consider how a manager makes decisions. Curriculum links can be made with PE, literacy, ICT and maths. As with last month’s activities, you may need to organise the children into groups to work on the local team that they support.
