Ssssounds like rain
Add to My Folder
Liz Smallman knows that children love rain but adults are not so keen! She shows you how to reproduce the sounds – but without getting drenched
What is it with children and rain? Even at the mere hint of ‘spitting’, a lot of adults are running for shelter, whereas children could stay out in it all day, splishing and splashing! Maybe we should take a leaf out of their books, get our coats and wellies on at morning break, and go splishing and splashing ourselves!
But if you prefer to keep dry, you could always use your imagination and bring the rain indoors by recreating the wonderful sound it makes with a rain stick. You can also take the rain stick one step further by linking it with animal sounds and constructing your very own ‘snake stick’. This will provide a great way of exploring curriculum themes such as ‘Sound and hearing’ and ‘Making different sounds’.
