Three primary school children taking part in the smoothie challenge

Years 5 and 6 children from Brownhill Primary School had their business skills put to the test as part of a smoothie enterprise challenge, spearheaded by Education Leeds.

The children had one day to design, produce and market their smoothie product to fellow classmates. Supported by a local business advisor, the teams were given a budget and a deadline to work to. Teams earned points for their business acumen in team work, creativity and communication skills.

The scheme has been developed alongside the National Curriculum so that teachers can integrate ideas into their lessons.

Check out the Junior Education PLUS ‘Junior entrepreneurs’ series, which provides ideas to help develop children’s life skills and business awareness. This month, it’s the press room challenge as children get set to produce their own school newspaper.
