Hop to it with these fantastic story-based science activities on lifecycles, growth and change
Growing Frogs by Vivian French (Walker Books, ISBN 9781406312065) teaches young children how frogs develop as they grow. Careful illustrations show each stage, along with descriptions. This book fits in well with any unit on growth and change, since the changes can act as an introduction to a variety of lifecycles.
Growing Frogs is a superbly illustrated, factual text about the development of frogs. A girl recalls her experience of observing the development of frogspawn. Through her recollections, each transformation is explained clearly in child-friendly language. The illustrations are realistic and the descriptions are detailed. This is a great introductory book, which also contains tips on how to handle frogspawn.
