Science Spies 2 (exclusively online mission!)

Get your class working as Secret Spy Lab Assistants for this top secret mission: exploring friction
The focus of this investigation is to explore forces and movement while having fun. It provides an accessible means of gaining knowledge during a hands-on science lesson. Resources are minimal and they are very simple to prepare – but can easily be extended if required.
The investigation is designed to introduce the concept of friction to a Key Stage 1 class. Although a basic scientific concept, many children in this age group have little understanding of how friction works in relation to moving objects. Indeed, they are often mystified when told that without friction, a moving object would just keep on moving! I find this activity works best with the class divided into small groups working on individual work stations.
