Revised Early Learning Goals: Understanding the World

This new mini-series provides inventive ideas for activities that are geared towards each of the revised Early Learning Goals. This week we look at the Understanding the World Early Learning Goal (ELG).

In this area, ‘People, Culture and Communities’ and ‘Past and Present’, replaces ‘People and Communities’ with more of a focus towards history and geography. The use of fictional and non-fictional texts will play an important role in this area as there is now an emphasis on the children’s knowledge partly being drawn from reading materials shared in class. ‘The World’ ELG has also been changed to ‘The Natural World’.
