Not all settings have access to a large outdoor area, but by organising your resources creatively, even the smallest space can provide positive outdoor experiences for everyone, as Tracey Godridge explains

Reducing the effort of getting resources out and clearing them away is one of the most effective steps to take when setting up provision for outdoor play. Providing the children with the opportunity to choose equipment, and be in charge of their play as it happens, lets adults focus more on supporting learning outdoors, rather than setting up or tidying away resources. This has a positive impact on the quality of play and on staff interactions with the children.
