Creating an indoor garden can be great fun for the children and encourages them to use their imagination. These ideas offer exciting learning opportunities, creativity and topics for discussion

On the rocks

Rockery

Collect rocks, one for each child, which they can count and personalise by using white paint to number them on the bottom and add their initials. Let the children take turns to arrange the rocks into a pyramid shape in a corner of the room, ensuring that they are stable. In the spaces amongst the rocks, ask the children to place small pots of heather, lobelia and blue hyacinths, as well as alpine plants such as fleabane and saxifrage.
