Golden Rules 6: We look after property
Add to My Folder
These activities are based on The Handbook of Golden Rules and The Golden Rules Story Set.
In the final article of our six-part series, Jenny Mosley shows you how to foster responsibility and caring

Nowadays, everyone knows we must do all that we can to look after our planet. We also know that we have a responsibility to start at a very early age and make caring for possessions an integral part of every child’s everyday experience. Encouraging them to help you with daily chores, like tidying up and putting things away carefully, teaches them responsibility and caring.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families’ curriculum for citizenship, describes this early learning in terms of safety. It states that children need to know what actions can be taken to keep property safe, and that they need to recognise that we are all responsible for looking after our own and other people’s property.
Looking after property does not have to be dull. You can make these crucial lessons fun by playing motivating games like the ones that follow.
