Giant art 2: colossal collage!

By Robert Wattsco-editor of Teaching Art and Design 3-11 (Continuum Books) and Programme Convener for the MA Art, Craft and Design Education at Roehampton University

Reinforce a sense of group identity by showing children what they can achieve when they work together on a class art project

collage and painting

In the second of our three giant art projects, we’re setting your children the challenge of creating a collage that features contributions from everyone in the class. Taking inspiration from the patterns and textures of surfaces found in the classroom, playground or elsewhere, children will create a collaborative artwork. The results are so striking that your local art gallery would be happy to display the piece – assuming, that is, they can find a wall big enough!
