Explore France and find out about French artists, a world famous cycle race and delicious French food

French connections

France is a picturesque country with breathtaking landscapes, fairytale château and lush valley and hillside vineyards where grapes are grown. It is particularly known for its quality wines and delicious foods. Locals purchase freshly-grown vegetables, fruits and herbs, and bread, oils and cheeses, in vibrant farmers’ markets.

French people enjoy eating in restaurants and drinking coffee in pavement cafés. In town and village squares, they play traditional games such as boules (the French version of bowling). The annual Tour de France is a world famous cycle race. Notable French artists and composers include Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Claude Debussy and Camille Saint-Saëns.
