What is Harvest?

Harvest festivals are held during September or October to mark the gathering of agricultural produce, and as such were originally nature festivals, celebrating the fruitfulness of the earth and reflecting upon the dependence of humanity upon the earth. For many, religious or otherwise, it is a time for thankfulness and hope. Harvest festivals are common to religious traditions throughout the world and are among the most ancient of celebrations.
