Eltham Church of England Primary School in Greenwich has been praised by Ofsted in its latest school inspection. Following on from last year when the school was within the top one per cent of schools across the country for the progress made by children from the end of Year 2 to the end of Year 6, the Greenwich school has been given the highest possible rating for school inspections.
As well as outstanding academic results, the school was praised for its extra curricular efforts, including a successful basketball team and school choir, as well as its commitment to health and well being.
‘We all belong here’
Headteacher of Eltham Primary, Miss Whitney, regarded the school’s strong Christian ethos as being central to the school’s continued success: ‘Our Christian ethos and strong sense of community and respect was noted when our child was quoted saying, ‘We all belong together here.’‘
Miss Whitney added: ‘Our results are very good and I was pleased that the inspectors recognised the real progression that children make throughout their time at the school. Results are not the only guide to success and our focus on behaviour coupled with first class teaching creates an excellent atmosphere for our children to learn and develop.’
