Each timetable includes an hour’s learning on the core subjects of English and Maths, with sessions for other curriculum coverage and time for reading, breaks, snacks and daily exercise. Of course, EYFS children will require more parental support but the activities are designed for self-led learning as much as possible. Remember not all days will go to plan and your child might not always be able to sit and work quietly for the allocated time. If needed, allow your child/children to pick and choose which activities they would like to do, or encourage them to focus on just one piece of learning per day.

Note: If any of these activities take less time than allocated, allow EYFS children free play opportunities for the remainder of the session, eg. playing with their toys, drawing, dressing up, etc.

9.00-9.30	PE	Outcome/purpose Continuous exercise for 30 minutes. Instructions: Encourage your child to move like different animals. Start by giving them ideas to copy such as hopping like bunnies, jumping like kangaroos, wiggling like snakes and so on. Then encourage them to enjoy making up their own ideas. 9.30-10.30	Maths	Outcome/purpose To learn about measuring and size. Instructions: Download the ‘Quick Practice – Measuring ’ pack here. Work through the pack with your child.
10.30-11.00	Break	Pop out for your daily walk or exercise! Don’t forget to wash your hands!
11.00-11.30	Reading	Outcome/purpose To read for 30 minutes. Instructions: Snuggle up with a book! Let your child choose a story book and read it to them. After you have read the book, ask your child questions about the story. Such as: ‘Can you name all the characters in the story?’ ‘Turn to your favourite page. Why is it your favourite?’ Recreate the story with your child using puppets, toys or pictures.
11.30-12.30	Understanding the World	Outcome/purpose To make observations of animals and talk about changes. Instructions: Download the poster ‘Pets’. Read the title of the poster and ask your child if they know what a ‘pet’ is. Name each pet on the poster and invite your child to say which one they would most like to own. Can they say why? Explore the dog, cat and rabbit images. Are these pets old or young? What is a young dog/cat called? Why do we need to take special care of young pets? Make comparisons with caring for human babies. Encourage your child to think about how they would provide the pets on the poster with food, exercise and shelter, for example, an exercise wheel for a hamster and a warm hutch for a rabbit. Invite your child to design and make their own pet using play-dough or salt-dough. Encourage them to use different play-dough tools to make the textures and mould the shapes of the animal.
12.30-1.30	Lunch	If you have a garden or balcony, try to get some fresh air after lunch. Don’t forget to wash your hands!
1.30-2.30	Language and Communication	Outcome/purpose: Your child can express themselves effectively and respond to ideas expressed by others in conversation or discussion. Instructions: Use these discussion cards to start a discussion with your child about flowers.
2.30-3.15	Expressive Arts and Design	Outcome/purpose: To use a range of materials to create a piece of art. Instructions: You will need: a collection of small, interesting objects, for example, pasta shells, real shells, dried beans or noodles, beads, buttons, seeds, ribbon, artificial flowers; thick card; PVA glue Invite your child to make a textured collage. Help them to make a collection of small, interesting objects – such as the ones mentioned above. Help your child to cover a small disc of thick corrugated card in washable PVA white glue (this glue will turn transparent when dry). Work together by pressing the assortment of objects into the glue. Create a random design or move the objects around to make a pleasing pattern. Leave to dry. Activity from this worksheet.
