The new curriculum is becoming increasingly hard for children with special educational needs or disabilities to access. The raised standard for the expectation at each year group makes differentiation difficult even for the best of teachers. Use these simple ideas to support everyday practice in the classroom.
Pause for thought
- What is the learning difficulty of the child?
- How can I support the children in achieving? (This may be breaking down an objective enough for the child to access, or doing it in a completely different way. All children in the class should be able to succeed in their learning. It is our role as practitioners to ensure the end goal can become in sight for them.)
