Dance dynamics: Pirates!
Add to My Folder
Avast thar mateys, it’s all hands on deck as Kara Herbert presents her final dance workshop…
This is a contemporary dance routine for four- to seven-year-olds. Teach the routine bit by bit, adding on a little section at a time, and practise with the music as you go.
You will need: large clean dance space, with appropriate flooring; CD player; Palladio by Karl Jenkins; large pen and paper.
Before you begin
Gather the children to discuss the theme. What might they find at sea? What do pirates do? What do pirates look like? Use your pen and paper to note the children’s ideas, and keep this displayed for them throughout the workshop. Ask the children to demonstrate their ideas physically, by making actions to go with their images.
