Book-themed craft days: robots

Add to My Folder

By Karen Hart

The theme of robots is one that children of all ages enjoy, and there are lots of directions you can take it in, from old-fashioned clockwork robots to futuristic androids. It’s also a brilliant theme for creative activities, as you can really let your imagination run wild – just about anything goes!

At Key Stage 2, children can be encouraged to think about the ways robots help us, such as by doing jobs that are dangerous for humans (for example, defusing bombs or collecting samples from distant planets) or by doing repetitive jobs quickly and accurately. You can also talk about the downsides to robots, such as robots taking over jobs that people would like to do.
