Better resources needed for ICT

Teachers want more support and resources when it comes to ICT, according to a new report published by the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER).
These findings formed part of the Teacher Voice survey carried out by the NFER. Around a third of respondents felt that lack of resources was a barrier to the development of ICT in schools, and 35% reported that poor reliability of equipment discouraged them from using the technology in lessons.
Encouragingly though, when compared to a 2004 survey into ICT, attitudes and competence in ICT appeared to have improved. The majority (80%) of teachers said they feel that ICT makes a difference to the way they teach and 67% said that they had the skills to exploit the technology available to them.
