The car park

Provide the children with a large selection of small-world vehicles. Encourage the children to sort them in different ways, for example, by colour, size, mode of transport and so on. Create a car park by drawing line spaces on to a large piece of sugar paper. Invite the children to throw a 1-6 dice and count out the matching number of vehicles to park in the spaces in the car park. Vary the game by throwing two dice and add the numbers together; by adding and taking away cars from the car park; or by racing to be the first to get to a certain number.
