Rhyming with numbers

1 Five yellow sunflowers

Encourage number recognition

EYFS Area of learning > Mathematics > Number

What you need

Group size: ten children.

‘Sunflowers and apples’ activity sheet; five artificial sunflowers; laminated number cards from 1 to 5; tape.

What to do

Securely tape a laminated number card to each sunflower.

Invite five children to be sunflowers. Ask them to stand in a row and hold a sunflower, with the numbers 1 to 5 in order, and face towards the rest of the group.
