Early learning goal: begin to know about their own cultures and beliefs and those of other people.
What you need

What to do
Explore the images of African dancing and drums, and listen to African drumming.
Show the children how to beat out basic rhythms on African drums, or drums made from recycled materials.
Invite some of the children to accompany the African drumming with their own choice of home-made drum.
Encourage other children to dress up in coloured fabric and invent dances inspired by the images.
