Exploring simple fractions (one half, one quarter)

You will need

Large card or plastic shapes with half of each shape labelled in words and numbers – half and ½; an eight-block bar of chocolate; large-squared paper cut into eight-square pieces to resemble the chocolate bar; scissors; interlocking cubes; copies of the ‘Food divisions’ sheet; coloured pencils; rulers; fraction cards.
