Go all 007 by making your class become lab assistants for a secret organisation. This month’s exclusively online mission: to investigate waterproof materials
In this new series, science lessons are given an espionage twist as children get to take on the role of secret laboratory assistants. The session takes the form of a ‘James Bond’ style investigation with the class working for Science Spies – a secret science organisation fighting to save the world! The children’s job is to conduct a crucial experiment each month and feed back the results to the Head of Science Spies.
In this exclusively online activity, the Science Spies lab assistants are required to investigate which material would make the best emergency waterproof cover. The results can be sorted and grouped into materials that work and materials that don’t work – and finally numbered in order of effectiveness. Above all the focus is aimed at child-led investigation – not only the best way to get to grips with the subject of science, but the best way to have fun with the subject too!
