Hot under the collar (The Victorians)
Add to My Folder
Comparing modern and Victorian methods of ironing.

Before the lesson
Try to have several old irons in the classroom, such as flat irons and box irons (alternatively, use good clear images). For this session you will also need a modern iron. Write the word ‘iron’ on a flash card and have some blank cards available for writing down topic words later. Prepare a activity sheet by drawing an outline picture of a modern iron on the top half of a sheet of paper. Photocopy this so each child can have a copy. You will also need a white apron or pinafore.
