A river

Use a river to inspire philosophical thinking

Don’t forget to use the stunning Poster, ‘River’ and its accompanying activity sheets.

There are many ways to inspire philosophical thinking with your class – questions, images, poems, stories and objects will get you and your children talking and sharing ideas. In this new series, you’ll find a whole host of resources for philosophical discussions and activities, including a poster and activity sheets each time based around a single theme — this month’s theme being a river.

It’s good to think

Thinking philosophically with children has many benefits. It helps them to explore and develop ideas; it encourages them to understand a range of viewpoints and it can also aid them in improving their social behaviour, showing them how to use discussion to solve differences of opinion.
