2014 Science – Working Scientifically
Add to My Folder
Find out about the ‘Working Scientifically’ strand of continuous study, which replaces Sc1 Scientific Enquiry in the 2014 curriculum.
In our efforts to keep calm and carry on teaching , it is reassuring to remind ourselves that the prominence given to Working Scientifically in the new curriculum has been welcomed by science education experts. SCORE (Science Community Representing Education) is the partnership of the Association for Science Education, Institute of Physics, Royal Society, Royal Society of Chemistry and Society of Biology who have been closely involved in the consultation process with the Department of Education.
Although ‘Working Scientifically’ is set out in the document as a distinct area, it is intended to be taught through all other subject content in the programmes of study. Through ‘Working Scientifically’, children should have the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and understanding alongside the development of a range of enquiry skills.
