A favourite song can be used to inspire your children’s musical imaginations while exploring the sights and sounds of the farmyard. Create a band of farm animal musicians by making your own instruments and then invite your children to play during a rendition of the song ‘Old MacDonald had a band’ (below). Encourage them to also try different vocal animal sounds.

Old MacDonald had a band

E – I – E – I – O!

And in that band he had some sheep

E – I – E – I – O!

With a baa, baa, here

And a baa, baa, there
