This year, the theme for the British Nutrition Foundation’s (BNF) Healthy Eating Week (12–16 June) is ‘applied learning’. The Week will focus on building children’s knowledge about healthy eating and wellbeing, being active, food provenance and cooking. Children will be encouraged to take ownership for their own health, making positive decisions on their own.
Over the duration of Healthy Eating Week, school and nursery children will have a set of five health challenges to complete: Have breakfast, 5 a day, Drink plenty, Get active and Try something new. This year children can also apply to become BNF Healthy Eating Week Ambassadors, championing the week in their own schools and at home. Ambassadors will be asked to encourage others to take part in the challenges, and help plan activities to make their challenges fun and engaging.
