Open the door and step into summer – Jane Bower shows you how to support a Reception and Year 1 lesson on gardens and growth
This is a great activity to help bring the outdoors into your classroom – and the finished effects are visually pleasing too!
You will need: real flowers to look at (poppies or others with a clear centre and a few simple petals); painting equipment; white A4 paper; scissors; glue sticks; tissue paper; collage materials.
Study the flowers carefully, noting any folds, crumples or dips in the petals, and the parts that make up the centre. Count the petals and look at their shape – remove some to look at more closely.
