Eid al-Fitr

By Karen Hart

The Eid al-Fitr festival is celebrated throughout Islamic countries and marks the end of Ramadan.

In the UK, as in many other countries across the world, Eid is celebrated by families decorating their homes, wearing their best clothes, and coming together with family and friends to share a special meal.

This special time not only celebrates the end of the Ramadan fasting period, but is also a time to give thanks to Allah for his help in giving individuals the strength and self-control needed to fast throughout the previous month, and is also a time for forgiveness and making amends.
